Introduction:
             The word 'laptop' has been derived from two words 'lap' and 'top'. lap mean 'bend' and top mean 'upward' . So the name implies that its means is "bend upwards".                     The growing world requires most advanced and better means of communication.These are many means of communication but computers are most useful then all others.
Laptops is a modification of the computers. It is also called a notebook. It contains the characteristics of mobile,computer and many other communication devices.
 A laptop integrates many of the typical components of a desktop computer including followings.

• A desktop computer including a display
• A keyboard ( Keypad)
• A pointing device called trackpad and also called pointing stick.

Laptop is much better then computers because it is a lighter, rechargeable, wireless and more designed then a computer.
Invention:
         The first laptop was invented by the Adam Osbome in 1981. It was named as "Osbome 1" and its price was $1795. But it approached up to $1500 worth along with the worth of its operating and displaying  programmes. 
Types of Laptop:

1. Desktop Replacement 
2. Subnotebook 
3. Netbook
4. Rugged 
5. Tablet  

Components:  
              The basic components of the laptops are much resembled to the desktop counterparts in functions but they are designed so that they may adapt the features of the mobiles e.g low power consumption(and other many characteristics of the mobiles and such small and efficient devices which played a revolutionized role in the world of technology such as macebook). Due to the additional requirements Laptop's components show a low performance as compared to the similar priced desktop components. But on the other hand its design, cooling limits and size make it (overall) much better as compared to the desktop components.
Here the difference between a laptop's components and the desktops components occurs in a prominent view. These different components of both of the devices are the following.

1. Mother Board 
2. CPU (Central Processing Unit)
3. Memory
4. RAM (Random Access Memory)
5. Power Supply
6. Battery
7. Video Display Controller
8. Display Device
9. Removable Media Device
10. Internal Storage
11. Input

Advantages Of Laptop:
 There are many advantages of the laptops and sum of the important of them are the following:

1. Portability ( You can take it to any place)
2. Productivity (Use it at those places where desktop PC can't be used e.g sometime you likes to work under the sun so you can do this)
3. Up to date information ( if you have many PC then you may use a USB or Internet to up date the data from them and then copy that data to a single one laptop)
4.  Connectivity ( a laptop can go for the network connection as a mobile e.g wi-fi)
5.  Size (the size of a laptop is reasonable so it can be easily taken to the narrow places)
6. Battery (it is rechargeable so no any problem to take your laptop to camping or trip etc)
7. All in one (it has all the parts be fitted in it but a pc has separate parts e.g mouse, keyboard etc)

Disadvantages Of Laptop:

1. Performance ( laptop shows a very low performance then pc)
2. Upgradeability (Its upgrade ability is limited then a pc)
3. Effects on health e.g. wrist injury due to writing on its keyboard
4. Effect on health e.g. neck spinal problem due to watching it down
5. Laptop produces a heat which has effect on fertility of land and also causes a disease called "toasted skin syndrome". 
6. Its components usually have a short life so it gives us loss to.
